What To Do With Your Kids over February Break

The holidays are over and we’re finally back to a normal schedule.  The kids are at school… or are they? February break is right around the corner, and you need something for the kids to do. It’s cold outside so your options are limited - but don’t worry!  Elsie Kaye Glassworks has something fun and creative for everyone, right here in Westborough.

A Different Kind of Camp for February Break

If you are looking for something funky and “different” for your artistic kids during February break, sign them up for our February Break classes and give them a hands-on experience.

Jewelry Design Camp for kids Ages 7-11

No need to spend the whole vacation sitting on the couch playing video games. Drop the kids off at Elsie Kaye Glassworks for a morning of fun and creativity. We kick off each day with a glass bead making demonstration, and walk your child through the basics of jewelry design. If your child is more “hands-on,” then they’ll love working with jump rings, clamps and crimp beads. They’ll learn basic wire wrapping and metalsmithing, metal stamping, and other wire work.

Each day is a new challenge, and you’ll get to see their projects at the end of the day! Even if your child has been here before, we’ll have some new techniques and surprises for them. This camp runs daily from 9am-12pm. Click here to register.

Teen Flameworking Camp for Ages 12 and Up

For the older crowd, we kick it up a notch here at our Teen Flameworking Camp. There’s never a dull moment when they get to learn the fundamentals of glass beadmaking using a torch and glass rods. We’ll cover the properties of glass, how to manipulate glass with heat, annealing (slowly cooling down the glass after it’s been shaped), finishing beads, and of course all the safety and equipment training. Perfect for the curious and crafty teen looking for a more sophisticated “hands-on” experience.  Each student will make 3-5 beads per day and on the last day, will design finished jewelry with their own handcrafted glass beads. Camp runs from 1pm-4pm all week. You can find registration here.

Need Flexibility?  We Get It.

Both camps run from Monday February 17th through Friday February 21st so that we cover the entire February vacation week. But we understand that sometimes families need flexibility in their schedules. If you don’t want to send them the whole week, no problem!  You can sign them up for individual days if that works best for you.

Don’t Wait, Space is Limited.

Because we like to give the kids plenty of space to explore their creativity, we limit the camp size to 10 kids.  So don’t wait- spots fill up fast. Reserve your child’s spot today so they don’t miss out on all the artistic fun over February vacation. We’re located just off the Westborough rotary at 3 Union St, right behind Commerce Bank.
